Back story on build of Poisonous Cadence:
This is the story of how poisonous cadence came to be. I began building custom guitars in the early 90s, with my first build being for myself. It resembled a Stratocaster style guitar as I did not possess many tools, nor had I acquired the skills to be more unique in my designs, yet….. Initially, the majority of guitars I built were for other people or for companies for promotions. However, I got tired of knocking on doors and trying to get through the gatekeepers of these companies. In 2019, I decided that I was done with that approach and began building guitars in the style of my art and that I would like to be able to play.
Creatively Speaking
One Sunday morning, sitting at the kitchen table, which has become one of my “creative spots”, according to my wife given all the art paraphernalia left there! I started by having 3 larger than average body blanks custom made and I started sketching out a guitar design in my abstract art style. Once I had the initial sketch I liked, I cut out the neck bridge and pick up pockets and began to band saw the basic shape. I stopped working on it for a few days to study it and imagined reshaping it, in my mind, over and over, until I was ready to start carving it to give it more of the shape and flow I wanted. During this part of my creative process, it struck me what colour I was going to paint the guitar. I could imagine it finished and painted with two colours, red and white. Initially, I called it my abstract art guitar, but when I decided I was going to sell it, I knew I had to give it a fitting name.
I asked my wife and kids to come up with some ideas for the name of the guitar. My wife suggested Fire and Ice, which I liked, but then my daughter Karly came up with, Poisonous Cadence. When I looked up the meaning of cadence and discovered its association wit continuous music or rhythm, it seemed right! I could also imagine someone playing the guitar on stage, striking a chord, and casting a hypnotic fog over the audience, hypnotizing them with a poisonous continuous rhythm. I knew this was the right name for my one-of-a-kind, custom built, abstract art guitar.
Poisonous Cadence is truly a piece of art and a solid investment for any art collector or investor. There will never be another one like it, any made in the future, will be mere copies, based on my original design and artistic style. I developed this design, over time, based on the way I have lived my life, how I think, the skills and talents I have developed, and the continuous support of my family along the way. Poisonous Cadence is an artistic creation that literally took me 55 years to create and I am now ready and want to share it with the world.
